Care of Jewelry & Accessories

We take pride in the quality of our craftsmanship and create our designs to ensure lasting beauty! Instead of a bride passing down an outdated bridal gown to her daughter, we believe our clients should be provided with timeless and precious accessories that live beyond the wedding day!  Many of the materials and processes used in our collections embrace haute couture techniques. This makes for exquisitely unique pieces, but they do require special care:

Genuine Flowers & Other Preserved Natural Elements:

Some of our designs incorporate carefully selected genuine preserved flowers and other preserved natural elements (e.g., Enchantment Collection, Seaside Collection). We have developed an innovative process that is exclusive to House of Cach Bridal, within which we hand-paint and preserve these exquisite natural elements to make lasting heirloom pieces of distinguished beauty.

Here are some tips on how to care for pieces that incorporate preserved flowers and other natural elements:

  1. Please carefully shield your accessories from hair spray. Hair spray leaves a sticky film that attracts and holds onto dirt and it is difficult and sometimes impossible to clean off.  Also avoid contact with perfume or any other chemicals or make-up.
  2. Clean/dust items off with a soft clean cloth.
  3. If necessary you may use a slightly damp cloth (please only use a very small amount of water – DO NOT use cleaning or polishing agent). If you unfortunately have any hairspray residue or dirt, you can try a slightly damp cloth with a small drop of a mild liquid dish detergent, such as Ivory.  Then repeat wipe with damp cloth without detergent to clear soap residue & dirt.  Wipe dry with cloth & leave to fully air dry.  Once fully air dried, place back into original box.
  4. Please always put each piece back into it’s original packaging and store in a cool, dark, dry place.  Storing in exposure to sunlight, heat, & humidity will limit the life span of these pieces.

 Metal Jewelry and Accessories:

Most of our metal jewelry is either plated in 18K gold, imitation rhodium (silver) or sterling silver. Neither the gold nor the imitation rhodium plating will tarnish.  Sterling silver, however, will always tarnish in time, and the normal tarnishing process will be accelerated with exposure to air and humidity.

Here are some general care instructions for your metal based accessories:

  1. If you begin to notice a yellowish hue on sterling silver items, you can remove this tarnish using a jewelry polishing cloth, (we recommend the Sunshine Polishing Cloth or similar) which you may use to shine all metal items. Please don’t put water onto the cloth. It only works dry. DO NOT use the polishing cloth on:  Preserved  Flowers, Leather, Freshwater Pearls, Crystals, Rhinestones, or gemstones.
  2. Keep all items in the original packaging and store in a cool, dry place.
  3. Please refrain from spraying hair spray directly onto the pieces. Hair spray leaves a sticky film that attracts and holds onto dirt and it is difficult and sometimes impossible to clean off. Also avoid contact with perfume or any other chemicals or make-up.

How to clean Freshwater Pearls:

  1. Use a clean soft cloth to dust them off.
  2. If necessary you may use a slightly damp cloth (please only use a very small amount of water – DO NOT use cleaning, polishing agent or polishing cloth. Genuine pearls will loose their beautiful shine when they come into contact with any chemical agents).
  3. Please refrain from spraying hair spray directly onto the pieces. Hair spray leaves a sticky film that attracts and holds onto dirt and it is difficult and sometimes impossible to clean the off the items. Also avoid contact with perfume or any other chemicals or make-up.

Care of Leather:

We only use the finest and softest Italian designer leathers (which is what gives them that beautiful, ‘expensive’ feel) but it also makes the items more prone to permanent marks and stains.

  1. Use a clean soft cloth to dust the designs off.
  2. You may use leather wipes (such as Weiman Leather Wipes), to clean and condition the leather while being careful to avoid contact with all of the decorative components of the piece.
  3. Please refrain from spraying hair spray directly onto the pieces. It will stain the leather. Also avoid contact with perfume or any other chemicals or make-up.
  4. While you may use bobby pins to secure the headbands – please refrain from putting them across the leather. It may leave a permanent mark. We suggest you put bobby pins across the comb portion of the headband.  Some custom pieces may incorporate discreet loops specifically for bobby pins, which will not impact the leather or the look of the design.
